What does this job involve?
Field investigations
Conduct comprehensive site inspections, including soil and rock sampling and core sample drilling to assess geological conditions
Laboratory testing
Perform detailed laboratory tests on soil and rock samples to determine their strength, composition, and other critical properties
Instrumentation and monitoring
Install and monitor geotechnical instruments to track and ground movement, water levels, and ensure site stability
Data analysis
Assist in analysing geotechnical data and prepare comprehensive reports summarising findings and providing construction recommendations
Site characterisation
Contribute to the creation of detailed geological and geotechnical site models and assess potential geological hazards
Documentation and reporting
Maintain accurate records of all geotechnical data and prepare clear, concise reports for engineers and project managers
Collaboration
Work closely with geotechnical engineers, project managers, and construction professionals to support project planning and design
