CHECK OUT JAY’S PATHWAY
into university
Jay began his journey into the trades through a classic carpentry apprenticeship. Although, he always wanted to go that bit further. So, he decided to undertake a cadetship, which means he went through a university pathway after he finished his trade qualification.
Jay says“I got outside on the tools and in the office. From there I progressed into a contract administrator.”
a Contract Administrator
Once fully qualified, Jay got the opportunity to run an entire home construction project himself, as a foreman. It was during this time that he realised he loved managing everything from start to finish, which is why he chose to become a contract administrator.
Jay says“I organise all the trades on site, manage project scopes and financials that go along with it.”
to help others
A medical condition forced Jay to work a more office-based role in construction, which is why helping those in need is close to his heart. The Monday – Friday lifestyle of construction allows him to fill his weekends running a soccer program for special needs children and keep healthy through surfing, gym and running.
"Working in the construction industry allows me to have the time do all this.”
