Apprenticeship
After taking a gap year and travelling Europe with his mates, Lachlan chose to study Construction Management at university. Soon after, he realised he preferred hands-on experience with the tools.
Lachlan says"My mum definitely wanted me to go to uni, but after seeing some of the things you can achieve, she’s stoked that I’ve gone into the trade!”
TAKE MY TRADE
Lachlan knows there are endless possibilities to a trade. The great thing about doing an apprenticeship like plastering, is that you can start in a particular trade, but end up as an estimator, a contract administrator or even a project manager! It’s the main reason Lachlan decided to switch from university to construction.
Lachlan says"What excites me about the future is the endless possibilities. You're not stuck in that same job your whole life and have skills that you can use on your own house!"
golf after work
Early starts and early finishes in the trades allow more time for yourself. Lachlan loves finishing his day at around 2.30pm as a tradie, allowing him to enjoy heading out for a wave, or a round of golf with his best mates.
"Construction lets you invest in your hobbies, like surfing or whatever you enjoy in your free time."
Lachlan's journey as an apprentice plasterer may be just getting started, but with his passion, work ethic, and mindset, there's no doubt he’s on the path to even greater success!
