How do I get into this career?
To become a Building Certifier, you’ll need a qualification from a course accredited by either the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Gaining industry experience through a cadetship is valuable, as it helps apply your knowledge in real-world settings.
You’ll also need a Certificate of Accreditation from an approved body, confirming your competence in areas like building regulations and inspections. With this, you can apply for a licence from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), which offers three levels of certification based on the type of buildings you can certify.
