Starting at university

while progressing your career

As an undergraduate engineer at McIlwain, Emma is still finalising her university studies while beginning her career as an engineer. What she loves about it, is the combination of maths and science to plan and deliver projects, plus also being able to get her hands dirty and amongst the construction on-site.

Emma says
“Civil engineers design and build all the infrastructure around us.”
Engineering provides

the best of both worlds!

Civil engineering offers great flexibility. You can begin your day in the office, looking over plans and solving problems with team members. Then, you could find yourself on site, coordinating and working with tradesman and construction workers to finalise construction work.

Emma says
“If you want the best of both worlds, engineering might be for you!”
